Socially responsible international projects

ETAS Group has extensive experience in developing customised programs and delivering them in country to meet our clients needs.

One of the most significant points of difference about ETAS Group is our sustainable model. We are a business to business provider – meaning that we partner with organisations, NGOs or government departments to sponsor the program and we hire locally (or partner with local companies) with the idea to build capacity and then hand off the programs to be run in-country with minimal consultation or certification options if required.

We're generally more flexible than TAFEs/Universities and can work within shorter timeframes, and we don't have English requirements – we can work with translators and deliver the program in the local language.

ETAS Group has been working in Mongolia since 2007. Initially ETAS Group provided consulting services to Ivanhoe Mines in Mongolia (now Rio Tinto Copper/Oyu Tolgoi); ETAS Group now provides both training delivery services and consulting services to Oyu Tolgoi, the Mongolian Ministry of Labour as well as various Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and profit based business.

TVET Teacher Training

ETAS Group has been working with the Oyu Tolgoi and the Ministry of Labour since 2011 to deliver the Australian Certificate IV in Training & Assessment to over 2000 TVET (vocational) teachers throughout Mongolia.
While these TVET Teachers are professional teachers, many do not possess a qualification in either education methodology and/or their vocational area. Many are self-taught and are therefore replicating the traditional teaching methods they experienced as students.

The primary objectives of the program are:
• to standardise the training methodology throughout the country
• introduce the concepts of competency based training and assessment and student centred learning
• improve the practical components of vocational training and assessment

In order to provide a sustainable teacher training model, ETAS Group is working with the Ministry of Labour and Oyu Tolgoi to develop a Teacher Training Centre in Ulaanbaatar.

This centre is staffed by Mongolian teachers and administrators and will develop and deliver initial vocational teaching methodology programs and ongoing professional development training for vocational teachers throughout Mongolia. The centre also acts as a centralised hub linking with the Regional Methodological Centres to establish a national approach to vocational training, as this is currently lacking within the existing system.

Work Readiness Program

ETAS Group was awarded the Oyu Tolgoi contract to design and pilot a pre-employment work-readiness program for the long-term unemployed and nomadic herders of Khanbogd, the village closest to the mine site. Many of the candidates had not been employed in modern employment conditions, and were unfamiliar with the requirements of working in a wage economy.

Management Programs

ETAS Group developed and delivered a customized Certificate IV Frontline Management and Diploma of Management program at Kinsevere Mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Certificate IV of Frontline Management program involved working with Congolese staff members to build their capacity as supervisors/frontline managers and support the company's succession planning. The Diploma of Management program involved providing Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) for existing managers (National and Expat).
